Stephen Boyd, Ph.D.
Dr. Boyd obtained his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Arizona State University. He is a licensed clinical psychologist working with adults and adolescents with a variety of mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, and trauma. His approach towards psychotherapy is highly interpersonal and humanistic: he adopts a compassionate and non-judgmental view with clients, and strives to build a relationship of trust and understanding. He exclusively uses evidenced-based treatments that have been thoroughly tested and found to be effective for improving mental health concerns.

Throughout his career he has received specialized training in health psychology, treating conditions such as insomnia, chronic pain, tinnitus, and smoking cessation. Behavioral treatments for these conditions are effective in reducing symptoms and improving life satisfaction.
In addition to his work at Pacific Northwest Psychological Services, Dr. Boyd is an Assistant Professor at Oregon Health and Science University. He regularly teaches medical and graduate students at OHSU, and supervises advanced graduate students in the delivery of effective psychotherapy. He is involved in research with colleagues at OHSU and has published widely in scientific journals on topics related to trauma, anxiety, and insomnia. His research is primarily focused on reducing problematic alcohol use. Accordingly, he has expertise in treating alcohol abuse and other addictive behaviors, including alternative approaches to traditional abstinence-oriented programs.
